About
Everything we make points at you, not at us.
memrit is a small maker of question-based journals, and a quieter idea underneath them: that the right question, asked at the right time, does more than any answer handed over. So we make books that are mostly empty on purpose, and we keep ourselves mostly out of the frame. You are the helmsman. The book is only the instrument.
That is also why we say little about ourselves.
What we can show is the reasoning and the evidence beneath the design — public, on the Research and Method pages — and the work itself. The rest we keep quiet, on purpose. Not because there is nothing to tell, but because the telling would point the wrong way. A little mystery leaves more room for yours. → Research · → Method.
Our register is metamodern, and humanist.
Sincere without being naïve, self-aware without turning cold — a restrained smile. We mean it, and we know how it sounds. We believe attention is worth designing for, that beauty can be an open door rather than a reward, and that meaning is worth the trouble.
A movement, not an institution.
memrit is a small company of people who would rather think than be told what to think — and a larger, looser company of readers doing the same, each at their own table. There is nothing to join and nothing to perform. If the register sounds like yours, the collection is where it begins. → Collection.
